I would be very reluctant to front the expense of a group buy only to have it cancelled by the club due to some rule or other regarding spopnsorship or vendor status.

Normally group buys are set up wit a company (or something similar) to sell something at a price lower than retail, usually to someone who enter a discount or special code that identifies them as part of a group who gets a discount. The only "fronting" is making an agreement that a group gets a special price.
