I just did this on June 1st. It was really fun. I just wish they would have let us use those rx8's they had sitting out front.

Pat on back-I ran the best time of our group.

          Props to you, RatedS2K.
Are they sending you to Laguna Seca for the big show ??

They'll give us closer looks at the RX8 on Friday, but the event car is the new "6".
Am hoping they do a similar series with the 8 next year

The 6 is also what we used. Not bad for a FD auto but they do lower them with eibach and put on a bosel exhaust.

This is the guy who won our city.
STEVE BROLLIAR 722.00 PRO ranked 1st

            Me

RICHARD SORRENTINO 537.00 NOVICE ranked 149

Not to bad considering there were 1425 entries.

By my group I meant the other 5 s2000 owners I went with.

Not bad at all... "best in class" always counts.
1425 entries over 2 days?? WOW.

In the above, are you saying that a "PRO" auto-xer was allowed to compete ??

When you sign up you are asked a few questions about your driving skills. The pro class means that you have had training and have run mutiple autox and courses before. I put that I had never done an autox but I drive very hard which is true. Classes were as follows
                Pro--very experienced
                Club--local autox and some training
Novice--no training or track time but drives hard
Fun--see above but drives like grandma

How did folks sign up ?? Any clever sandbaggers ??
Is the "top dog" just FTD overall, and does it really matter which class one runs in ??

You can be a sandbagger. But I would like to think most people are honest. Top dog is overall. They have a leader board for each class. If I was in the fun class I would have made the leader board but that would have knocked off someone else that deserved to be there.

I was there for the VIP day Friday, and will be manning the WC Miata Club booth tomorrow.

It was a LOT of fun... got to drive several Mazdas (RX8 not included, unfortunately ), and try the auto-x cars. Wasn't too bad for a first-timer with FWD -- was about 5-6 secs off the "pro" benchmark... local 'shoes' were 2-3 secs off the pace.

Some pix from Friday at http://public.fotki.com/nsx1164/cars...it-up_chicago/

Some discussion/pix also on the WCMC Forums -- http://www.wcmcforum.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=210
