  • Newsflash! UFO Lands in Chicago!

And wouldn't ya know it, it landed right in the middle of Soldier Field!

Has anyone been following this saga??? What a shame...

I'm not a Bears fan or a football fan in general, really, but one of the coolest structures in the city has just been destroyed with this design! One of greatest things about Chicago is the architecture and this, IMO, was a classically beautiful sports arena...Romanesque columns and very regal looking. It's been there forever and now this...

This was the best shot I could get of it. Trust me, in person, it's a million times worse. What a shame...

Come on Greg... Just think about how much better the Bank One Bears will be in the new stadium - new stadiums always equate to Super Bowls. The increased prices for beer, brats, and pretzels will be offset by an according decrease in size and quality, further improving the entertainment value for the less-intoxicated, less-obese fans. And when it's 10 below, just think about how great it is to be sitting in a closed box seat, with the real (rich) fans, and watching the game on TV. It simply doesn't get any better than this.

Sorry, the previous message was typed by WestSideWilliam, in partnership with Bank One.

The reality of the whole thing is that the box seats generate more revenue than the stadium seats, and the old Soldier Field just didn't have the structure to add more box seats. At least they didn't make it a dome - heaven forbid that football players play in the cold!

          haha...the Bank One Bears.

I really don't know all the details of all the goings on with the stadium and why it's being 'redone' ... but it's sure freaking ugly, that's all I know. It's just a shame and a real scar on not only a Chicago landmark, but a landmark recognized all over the place. Too bad...somehow, I'm sure Dick has something to do with this! Oh, how I hate that man!

Actually, for once, I don't think your main man Mr Daly is behind this.

That's retarded. I can hardly wait to hear the TV announcers tell us how beautiful it is.

"Welcome to the newly renovated Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears presented by Bank One. The Bank One Bears are making their way onto the field through the McDonalds' Arches tunnelway. The captains have already decided on the SBC/Ameritech coin toss, and the Bank One Bears have elected to receive the opening kickoff, presented to you by Morton Salt. The visiting team has elected to play with the brutal wind, brought to you by Mother Nature, and will be receiving the ball in the Chicago Sun-Times side. The Bank One Bears have made their way onto the Chicago Tribune side of the field, and are ready to kick off... Let's play some Football!"
