Undercover Stangs: Indiana police to use unmarked Mustangs

    from Autoblog by Drew Phillips

Being a cop just got a little more fun for state troopers in the state of Indiana. The police department just purchased 18 brand new black Ford Mustang GTs for traffic patrol, with one being sent to each district. The Mustangs look completely stock and only have a light bar inside the top of the windshield - not even antennas usually found on unmarked vehicles. A few troopers took the opportunity to test out their new pony cars at O'Reilly Raceway Park last week and found them to handle "differently" than the Crown Vics. We would hope so.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I believe that all pollice vehicles should be required to have lights flashing at all times with huge stickers on the front, back, and both sides that say "I AM A COP!!!!"

Seriously, those 'stangs are gonna be deadly to speeders on the roads...best of luck to you all in Indiana!

We have marked and umarked Chargers here in the various areas of Austin, although alot of the marked county sheriffs have the markings ghosted into the car, so they are very hard to see until you are on top of the car.

We've got them in Dallas too...but totally unmarked, different colors too...I've only see them on the tollroads however...and I thought when I paid the toll fee it was a license to speed

The cops here in New Jersey drive unmarked Chargers too. There's always so much traffic and congestion that they really don't get much opportunity to give out speeding tickets. They'd be better off giving out illegal parking tickets to those of us sitting in traffic.

I think Coop said he saw an unmarked police Corvette around Kerrville, TX (or was it Ozona) last year...

As an Indiana resident I am glad to have a heads up since I speed. Sucks to have to look-out for Mustangs now too. ARGH!!

For what it is worth, I saw one of these yesterday morning on I-70 just east of Indianapolis. It was a silver Mustang, tinted windows, wing, and the smaller alloy wheels. He had a semi pulled over.
