  • PCX 710 filter group buy....Honda oil filters

Please call dibs on Honda oil filter purchase here. Only post if you're interested in getting filters (the proper ones for the S2000) and how many.

Once I get a count, if I have a large enough demand, I'll go to a regional supplier to place an order (leveraging against the amount needed to fill the order to get better per unit pricing)....basically, the more we order, the less it should be per filter.

If the order is 100 or less, I'll have to go through a dealership to get these....again, trying to reduce costs by ordering more.

Delivery of filters will come to me, and we will make arrangements to get filters back to people who have ordered them. Maybe one big central BBQ will bring us all together. Or a "delegate" from each state wouldn't mind taking a drive to pick up the filters for their contingent.

    Now please sign up.

Runnng count for oil filters: 55
Runnng count for crush washers: 25

BTW, I'm in for 15 filters and 5 crush washers...that'll net me close to 50,000 miles. My motor will be 100k old once I get finished with these.

I'll take 5. That should be good for the next 5 years.

Oh, and with the fumoto oil valve, I do not need any crush washers.

I can see if the supplier for the PCX filters also supply the washers. If not, no big deal, those are things I should be able to buy in bulk at a friendly Honda dealer/parts department.

BTW, for those questioning, there's a local dealer that has expressed interest in helping the local/Midwest group out. This may be a first group pricing on genuine Honda parts in many more to come. Stay tuned....btw, I will also report on where washers will come from, and for how much as I find more.

BTW, with the prices I get, I will PM everyone as I was instructed that I could not publish them.

Urmil -> put me down for 5 filters (no need for washers...got the fumoto).

Also, just wanted to double check the oil filter part number. You mentioned PCX 710 in the thread title, but I thought the new filter was part #15400-PCX-004.

                  Deep,

I'll put you down for 5 now. However, there's a certain price threshold per unit that would make you getting the filters from this group buy either cost the same or more expensive than you can get them at your local dealer.

If we can get them cheaper through our group buy, the shipping down to TX is going to eat away at any savings. However, if you want to participate in the group buy to help out our cause, thank you.

If you choose to change your mind, let me know. As for now, I'll put you in the count.

                  Thanks.

Hey, I can either buy from HandaAccessories at $6-7 + shipping, or I can buy from you for $6-7 + shipping and help you guys out in the process. A no brainer, IMO ...

btw - thx for the 710 explanation...too funny.

So are these the filters that I have used for the last 4 years on my car or something else?

Brad....they are the same filters. Actually, if you are using the same filters from four years ago, you are using the wrong filter now.

The 'PCN' filters are the same filters on Integras, Civics, Preludes, etc. This is what our MY2000 S2000's were fitted with. Down the road sometime or another, Honda changed the specification for the S2000. They are now the PCX filters. These filters can be used on any Honda, but the PCN's should not be used on all Hondas.

The filters that are apart of the group purchase are the same Honda filters that should be on the car....the same ones that Harry uses.

Just trying to make sure I'm getting the right filter - that's all.

I went to H and A Accessories and the filter part # is 15400-PCX-004.

                          What's the difference????

So these are the same filters that H&A sells? Just a different part number?

Well, if Harry approves, they can't be bad... put me down for 5 + crush washers if possible.

Are these the same crush washers as H and A sells, i.e., P/N 94109-14000?

Ok guys...too many question, I think, are coming from me labeling these filters as the "PCX 710 Filter" Read the following to find out why I called it the 710 Filter:

The other day I was in the local auto part store. A lady came in and asked for a seven ten cap.
We all looked at each other and said, "What's a seven ten cap?"

She said "You know, it's right on the engine. Mine got lost some how and I need a new one."

"What kind of a car is it on," they asked? Now I'm thinking maybe an old Datsun Seven Ten but no, she said its a Buick. "OK lady, how big is it?"

She makes a circle with her hands about 3 1/2 inches in diameter.

"What does it do?," we asked. She said, "I don't know, but its always been there."

One of us gave her a note pad and asked her if she could draw a picture of it. So she makes a circle about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and in the center she writes 710.

The guys behind the counter are looking at it upside down as she writes it ... and they just fall down behind the counter laughing so hard in hysterics.

One guy said, "I think you want an oil cap." She said, "Seven Ten cap, oil cap, I don't care what you call it, I just need one, and I don't see what is so damned funny about it."

                                Yes, she was a blonde.

Note: If you read "710" upside down.... it is spells OIL!!

I'm not sure what the part number is on these filters and these crush washer (which I am not sure we will be able to get through the same distributor). The filters will be the correct 100% genuine Honda filters that you are supposed to get from the dealer when getting an oil change done on your S2000. These are the 'PCX' filters as opposed to the 'PCN' filters.

I just looked it up and verified with the dealer, the correct oil filter number is:
                                15400-PCX-004.
                                The correct crush washer is:
                                P/N 94109-14000

These are the two part numbers that will be apart of this order.

Synopsis of the difference in old filters vs. the newer PCX filters (as cut and pasted from S2Ki and credit going to member, Triple-H):

The new oil filter for our car is in...
My dealer just got the new oil filter in for the S2000 on Wednesday 9/17, he ordered them about a month ago- as soon as they were announced. Although I have not taken and old filter and a new one and cut them in half to compare the inner workings, there are some interesting facts that can be observed from the outside.

                                  NEW FILTER: 15400-PCX-004

                                  - Honda filters for most models have been updated and are now much smaller in diameter
                                  - The filter for the S2000 has not been reduced in size as far as the eye can tell
                                  - The old filter was made by Filtech Inc. and the new filter is made by Toyo Roki Mfg. Co. Ltd.
                                  - The major change is the number of holes for the oil to circulate through. The old filter had 6 holes and the new has 8. Now mind you the old holes were ever so slightly larger, but clearly I would prefer the eight.

OLD on left, NEW on right

Detailed analysis of the composition of different filters here:

When you look through the link, keep in mind the Honda filter made in Japan is the new filter that te subject of the groupbuy here.

Yes, thanks for clarifying. I'm pretty sure my last batch was PCX filters, but I'm not 100% sure. I also just put my last one on.

                                      Thanks again, Urmil.
