Solo II Nationals -- How'd you do Geoff?

Had a ball.
Got my ass kicked. Finished 14th out of 24. But, I did this with the wrong spring rates and a car that was not "fully prepped" and a drive that was questionable at best. With another year of seat time and some serious tweaking of the car(or maybe developing another car) I will be shooting for a top 5 next year.
The experience was really unbelievable though. The place is a sea of autocross. Literally, the area that housed the event was probably about a mile long and maybe a quarter of a mile wide. There were 1200 drivers competing. Action lasted from dawn to dusk. I will not miss this event again. I am already deep into planning for next year.
BTW Bart, I may have an autocross 92 Civic available next spring. This would be a great car for someone(you) to get started with. By next spring, the car will have a fresh engine and clutch and will be just a rear sway bar away from being competetive.

Sounds like a great time Geoff. 14th out of 24 sounds pretty good to me!
The missus would kill me if I bought an autox car, but she always did say that the 91 civic we had was a great car to drive . . . . Maybe we need to get her a passenger seat in a car at an autox and then I can tell her I bought the car for her.

This years event was at Forbes Field in south Topeka, Ks. Next years event will be at Heartland Park. It is literally right next door to Forbes Field. The Forbes surface couldn't take one more event. It was literally crumbling beneath us as we ran. While doing my work assignment, I spent my time cleaning rocks and crumbling concrete off the course as opposed to shagging cones.
Next year at Heartland Park we will be running on a brand new racetrack quality asphalt surface. It should be billiard table smooth but probably won't offer the same level of grip as the concrete. But, it will be much more friendly to tires. That concrete is just brutal on a set of tires.
