  • Big Trees - Saturday October 13

We'll meet at Raley's at the Foresthill exit of I-80 in Auburn at 10:00. Bring a picnic lunch or buy something at Raley's. We'll head for Foresthill then down Mosquito Ridge Road to one of the forks of the American river. Up to the most northerly grove of Giant Sequoias in California where well have a short hike and lunch. Returning to Foresthill we'll head for Sugar Pine reservoir and then down funky Iowa Hill Road to the N. Fork of the American. Up to Colfax and then a quick buzz down I-80 to a winery or brewery in Auburn. We'll see where people would prefer to end up. Here'a link to the map compiled by Stephn.

Hi fellow S2000ers. Well... Carl is going to be in Reno for the Boise State Nevada Football game that weekend so we won;t be able to go on this ride either. It's been crazy busy this year. Have another terrific drive! Terry

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, HEAR YE, ONE AND ALL! LAIRD MICHAEL THE BALD does hereby wish to commend and praise Sir Anthony and Lady Margaret on the success of their latest quest to the BIG TREES of the north. As near to a perfect day as one could imagine for weather, the quality of real world roads, almost non-existent local traffic, and and scenic views of the American River canyons. A day of truly joyous tarmac dancing in the S with fellow members of the Clan. The added passage through the autumnal celebrations of the local inhabitants of the region of Iowa Hill was an added bonus and entertaining surprise. Great care was exercised as to not disturb their endeavors. The day was ended at Sir Antony and Lady Margaret Manor Housewith some appropriate refreshments and pleasant conversation. WELL DONE!

Thanks Mike. It was indeed a perfect day and I'm sorry for those of the clan who missed it. We'll have to do it again and hope that no other vehicles venture out there again. When you're leading the pack, it's a lot more fun to be limited only by your own caution and not by the Granny in front of you. Tony
