Well, you should have said so up front! I go to motorcycle tracks more frequently, so that's what came to mind first.

The Driveway has been around for several years now. A friend of mine built it as a private track for personal use...my first trip there, I got to drive his then-new GT3 and shifter karts on it. He sold it to Bill Dollahite, who has some fairly ambitious development plans for the property.

I attended a PCA autocross school there a couple of weekends ago, and had a great time!

It's open for business now, it's just the website that's not developed.

Google's SAT pics of Austin must be pretty ancient. It doesn't show up:

I was able to get an invite from Eric to come check out the track a few weeks back when they were finishing the last layer of road base. It definetely looks like a fun track, with some good "pucker corners" with significant elevation change. Should be fun to drive for sure.

                              You got it!

We're still trying to gauge exactly when we'll be 'official', but we're hoping it'll be early/mid February.

A few pics from some early 'bed in' runs are below.

Looks nice! Are y'all going to have any DE or similar style events there? I can't justify a membership, but I've love to come for a TDE or similar type event.

                                  Chris,

The short, official answer is probably not.

The long, unofficial answer is that it's possible. The business model is set up to be very member-centric, which means we won't be taking away many weekends from paying members during the year.

That being said, if membership is slow to build, we may do a few events out there.

As it sits now, membership is growing fairly steadily, so we'll see how it goes.

THAT being said, look for events involving both Spokes and/or H2R sometime next year. Not sure what yet...

Eric, you wont have events there for non members?

                                      It all depends on membership.

If we end up with a 'full house' in a shot period of time, then we'll VERY rarely have non-member events, so as to keep the track 'clear' for members.

However, if membership is a slow build, or if we need to recruit, then we'll probably have some non-member events.

My WAG is that we'll have a few non-member events in the first half of 2008. It's hard to say how it'll go beyond that.

I hope you don't go all "exclusive". Tracks like that are usually not admired by track junkies....
