  • Houston Group Drive 7 Sept 2003

    Hey, I get the first legitimate thread in this forum!

    Anyway, short notice but if there is anyone in the Houston area who wants to join us, a bunch of the HouStooks will be going for a group drive this coming Sunday. The start will be at I-10 and Mason Rd. The first half of teh drive will end at the Brenham Airport and from there, you can go back Hwy290 or a short route that the organizer has planned or however you want.

    Lunch will be at the "Southern Flyer" which is at the Brenham Airport. This is a place that the Houston paper talked about, where people fly into just to eat the burgers. Here is just any idea of what and cost:

    Burgers = $4.95
    Cheese, jalapenos, grilled onions, bacon = $.50each
    Fries = $1.25
    Onion rings = $1.75

    They also have salads, chicken sandwiches, buffalo wings, and some full dinners.

    Quote from the organizer:

    "We will be leaving the McDonalds on the southside of the freeway at Mason Rd & I-10 at 10-10:15am on Sunday (the best way into McD is turn right into the park&ride and then cross the feeder). The drive is only about 140miles with a couple of stops. There are 2-3 stops for bathrooms/gas and to regroup everyone. I hope to get a least one photo op. Some of the route is on I-10 and I will tell you ahead of time what exit to get off, so if you want to take your chances and fly down the highway, you can (but ask Joe or Juan what happened last time). Then we get into the good roads, some which we have already been on and some new ones, even to me. Yes, because of time I have not been able to check all the roads, so I hope they are good and clear."

    Any questions, or to let me know that you'll join us and that we should wait for you, send me a PM.

      Sorry, no deliveries. Pick-up/self-serve only.

      But do join us, if you like. Maybe we can meet on the way so you don't have to drive all the way to Houston. Or meet us at the airport -- we plan on lunch around 2pm.
