  • Texas Kart

For a while I have talked to a few of my friends about getting into Karting, you can buy used 125cc carts from $2000 to $4000 give or take a few hundred dollars.

Anyways I really don't know all that much about the sport except when I got to drive a friends Cart 100cc cart yrs ago and It was a blast.

So I did a simple search and came across this listing of Tracks, I was suprised to find that it listed TWS, is there some club that used TWS for Kart events or is this just a blanket listing of Texas Tracks.

Anyways if anyone here has some knowledge of this subject and is intrested in doing some Karting post up here, of Tracks or Track organizers outside of the ones that are on this website or even have recomendations.

    List of Tracks in Texas
    Auto Racing,Race Track,Race Car,Race Safety Equipment,Motorsports,Race School

    Forums for used Kart Sale

This is the organization you would need to join to race. Cost is around $70 a year

Once you join the organization you can race locally in Texas with these guys whcih is who im going to join, there cost per year is $30

SWRA also has listing of the tracks they race on, each race is around $100 to enter early and there is no Times for postion, the lineup for drivers works by the order of who signs up 1st to last.

    Thanks to Andy for this:
http://www.racekarts.com/ cost for membership $325 yr unlimited access unless an event is going on.

I've got a friend that races karts, and has a nice 125 for sale, if its not gone already. They do race @ TWS, hitting speeds of 125mph there according to him. He'd probably be happy to send you some links and get you pointed in the right direction if you'd like.

gulf coast kart club out in Katy is always something I have wanted to do... even if just for testing. You used to be able to join and they would give you keys to the gate

Well im really set on doing this, I knew I heard of a track out in Katy years ago from a friend of my who's son raced 1/4 midget's, he said you just pay a membership fee to the track and could use it when you wanted.

I'll post up more info as I come across it here, if anyone wants to do this and has an intrest jump in here.

I was humming the Mario Kart theme while watching this...
I expected to see the blue turtle shell fly out of the front at any given moment.
That being said, this does look AWESOME! You're practically scraping your behind on the track! Looks intense!

Yes I did. It was mind boggling. To see how fast I could take some of those turns, and compare that to the (slower) speed my Corvette used to take them at.

I used to run an 80cc shifter kart. And while actually slower than a Vette or an S2000 in acceleration, it felt tons faster. (now, a 125cc shifter kart is an absolute monster!). My favorite track was Oak Hill Raceway in north-east Texas. A thrilling road course with nice hills and great turns. See http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/TX/OakHill.html TWS was all about long bursts at top speed, but Oak Hill was all about driving and racing.

If I were to get back into it though, I might go for a "TaG" kart, touch-and-go. They are water-cooled with on-board starters, but no transmission. I might miss the shifting part, but the TaG's are so much easier to live with. I would avoid the 100cc Yamaha class though.

Talk to Tommy Muth at http://www.texaskarts.com/ and please tell him I said hi. He'll set you up.

LOL between you and the guy I bought this off of who raced this one and others before, it seems like rolling these or flipping this is about as common as spinning out a car at the track. I spent about 2 hours looking for safety gear , spare tires, a hitch, and a trailer to replace the one I sold lastnight. On the 2nd - 4th of Oct I'm going to watch these guys race, I might even go and do a test and tune run with this little monster.
