  • Harris Hill Road HPDE 2/27 *special benefit event*

It's about that time again, time for another DE at Harris Hill! I have a very special track day coming up on February 27 at Harris Hill Road, and I'm hoping that you will all be able to attend.

It will be the usual format of my high performance driving schools (including breakfast and lunch), but this event will also be a charity event to benefit Austin Boxer Rescue, a breed specific dog rescue group serving both Austin and San Antonio that I volunteer a lot of time to. Like most rescues and charities in general, we've taken in a record number of dogs in the last year while facing record lows in donations. ABR is desperately low on funds, so I am donating all of the proceeds from this event to them in hopes that they'll be able to save more dogs. ABR volunteers will be on hand at the event, as will some of the irresistibly cute dogs we have up for adoption (adoptions will not be handled on site without a preapproved application though). You can preview all of the adoptable dogs we have currently and read about the adoption procedure at www.austinboxerrescue.com.

In addition, Roger Beasley Porsche will also be sponsoring this event and bringing several cars for everyone to "paw" over, so there will be even more goodies at the track for your enjoyment! To recognize both of these aspects of the event, we've entitled it "Boxers and Boxsters." Of course, any kind of car owner is welcome to register to attend or just come to watch, but it made for a catchy title!

SO... this promises to be a fun day, and hopefully, since it's on the cusp of spring, it won't be stupid cold OR insanely hot. Registration will go online at www.motorsportsreg.com in a few days; I'll send an email to let you know when registration is open, so stay tuned!

    Hey Sondra!
I will be there! I own 2 boxers Addie and Bruno. That's a great idea to donate to that group! I hope to see some more cool cars come out with your event, lots of S2ks.

Awesome! I can't wait to see you there, and it'll be nice to have other likeminded boxer people too! Bring dogless friends and convince them to adopt! Adoption days are usually in Austin and San Antonio, so this will be a rare opportunity for SM folks to meet some of our dogs without making the hike to either city!

Very interested in attending. However, what is needed for tech inspection? Also will the stock honda roll bars for a s2000 suffice?

Stock roll bars are fine. I have a tech inspection sheet that I can send over to you. It's fairly basic, but it needs to be completed by an ASE certified mechanic. PM your email addy to me and I'll send it over.

Haaaaayyyyy Miss Sondra! Can you e-mail me the tech sheet? Should NEW OEM pads with New RBF 600 fluid suffice? or will I need HPDE duty Pads for this? New Oem pads $39, New Carbotechs $145. I can change OEM pads like socks for the price difference. Let me know!

Also will my Snell2005 Arai MC helmet be ok?

Sondra probably already sent you the form and answered this in email, but stock pads should work fine. You might see some fade toward the end of the session, but you won't be out long enough to seriously cook the brakes. There's only a few spots on track where you'll be on the brakes extremely heavily for any length of time, it's really a momentum track.

That said, you'll get more bite and better feel and fade resistance out of the Carbotechs, but it's up to you if the money makes sense. They aren't necessary.

Awesome event Sondra, well organized and smoothly executed! While the track does have a few bumpy spots, it was almost perfectly dry, and the weather was near perfect.

It was nice to see all of those pooches out there, I hope there were sufficient funds raised for this benefit.

                    A Great Day indeed!
